Sofles in Paris | Part Deux

Sofles has his own youtube channel. If like me you shat yourself with excitement, then get ready for this video. It features a bunch of pen sketches, wall pieces and music that ties in with the video so well that you might have to rush to the toilet after your previous trip. The styles ranged in this video, but what do you expect, I'm pretty sure Sofles does everything under the sun when it comes to graffiti. With a Rustie and JME featuring on the video, track in the video is Rustie - Attak, you have a all round package thats worth watching the whole way through. Check it out below.

Claudio Picasso

When looking through instagram you are more than likely to find a new graffiti artist that you have never hear of before. It was literally today that I found out about Claudio Picasso's work or @CPWON on instagram, and to say its impressive is a bit of an understatement, the detail going on in this work is unreal. It looks more like he's pasting images to walls rather than painting them on. This hyper realistic kind of painting always does amaze me. I've seen my own sister draw up some pretty realistic pictures, which by the way you should check her out on her instagram @kayleyjaynetattoos, and the amount of skill it takes just on paper is unreal, but then to blow it up and have it on the side of a building... just makes my head hurt. But in addition to this realistic work, he has completed other styles that work just as well, and to show you all the extent of his work, here's some pictures.

This blogging stuff is hard

So after what seems to have been almost a year of this blog doing nothing I've decided to reboot it, well at least try. So in this new year the blog will not only be showcasing work of graffiti artists that I want to share, but will also showcase some of the work I have completed over this past year on my course. I posted a little while ago showing some of the work I'd completed in my first year, and it's definitely gotten better. So in a way this blog might start having some design related articles posted. In addition to this i'm going to start posting some music that might take the interest of whoever is reading this article. Being heavily into instrumental hip-hop, beat music and other genres around this area, I'm hoping to find a new track, and maybe a new artist each week to post that will help spread the music that I love to other people. With all that new year, new blog bullshit out of the way here is some of the stuff I have completed over this past year that might interest you, all my own work, if you like it comment or email me, if you want to steal it, screw you, but yeah here it is, my work.

In my spare time I like to imagine I own a t-shirt company, and produce vectors like the one above, however this isn't a reality... yet. So until further notice this is just a vector, but I am hoping to put this low-poly deer onto a t-shirt

I do try and do favours for people, and this is one of them. One friend asked if I might be able to make a surfboard design for him for a surfing company he wanted to start up, however this hasn't gone any further from here, but something might happen!

At my university we have small projects called real jobs, these are projects that are actually used in the real world, rather than being something that is stuffed into a folder that is later labelled 'portfolio'. This project is for a small event going on in a town near me, more work from this project will appear soon so keep your eyes peeled!

Not much now but just a few bits to show you what I do, more will be on the way... when I can get it all in one place.

ARLIN

If you're into your graphic design, You'll love ARLIN. This Portuguese artist has spent most of his life as a graphic designer, and started his work in graffiti around the year 2000. You can see the influence graphic design has on his work, you have these crazy uses of angles that look unbelievable on the wall. All of the work is so sharp and vibrant with colour, that it a looks like it could be photoshopped or created via computer!

In addition to his graffiti work he does a lot of painting and vector drawings that are just as amazing as his graff work. His vector drawings are to the highest quality, and his bird work shown at the bottom just proves how much ARLIN is capable of. Definitely check this guy out if you can, he has a lot of work, in design and graffiti on: http://cargocollective.com/arlingraff and also Instagram: arlin_graff.

Artista

Holy Moses I've been slack lately, Haven't posted in what feels like years! However, I'm not gonna moan about my lack of posting and just get straight to the point.

With works giving the grey dreary streets of London some colour and pop, Artista is hard to be unnoticed. She's not a newcomer to the whole art world, seeing as she was winning awards at the age of four, and having designs printed on Christmas Cards. So yeah, she's been killing it for quite some time. In recent times she's been doing work for places such as The Tate Modern, Twitter UK, Starbucks, The list just goes on! And on top of all of this, she still manages to fit in some bangin' Murals. Now I can barely post once a week, so when Artista crams all of this into her life, well it just puts me to shame.

Moving onto the Murals and Street Work. It's amazing, it's colourful and it's playful. She has a variety of textures and block bold colours that just create such an impact on the wall. You just have to look at her work to see what I mean, It's just stunning. Check out her website as soon as you can: http://www.kayleighdoughty.co.uk and if you want a her instagram just search for: its_artista.

TML Stars

Happy New Year! Hope you had all the festivities this December. It's yet again been a long time since I last posted, which is sad I know, but with the New Year hopefully I should be able to keep to my Monday posting schedule.

In the new year I'm going to talk a bit about TML Stars. Now I have small knowledge on who TML stars are, I haven't really seen any interviews or background info. All I know is that they do work in London, due to the fact I was visiting the lovely Shoreditch once again. It was by pure chance that I saw the work, and if I was you I wouldn't go down there to hunt for it because the work I saw has probably been sprayed over.

The work I've seen normally features an owl/bird like character using thick black lines with either a white background or a few different colours incorporated. It's got a really unique style to it that makes it really easy to recognise as a TML Stars piece. However TML stars pieces stretch further than just their owl characters. When looking on their flickr and on the Graffiti Life Gallery website I saw a much wider variety of their work. Portraiture featured quite a bit in a lot of their work, and even some word work was there. It's amazing to see such a variety of work, and to be able to see it in real life. The closest thing to a constant update of their work is either their Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tmlstars/ or their Instagram which features the bird character a lot: @tmlstars

Apex

Apex's work is crazy, like in so many different ways. He manages to get so many things together in one piece that my mind is blown. Apex (b. 1978, San Francisco, CA) is an extremely good mural artist, and by looking through his work you'll see he works a lot in bright block colours, and creates shapes that are so twisted and sharp, yet have so much flow at the same time. A lot of the work that I have seen is of these almost intertwining shapes that overlap and move around the wall, and I look at this work and can't even think how Apex doesn't disconnect any of these lines. They all flow, no line stops randomly, and in the same way no line begins randomly. As for the colours, well you can see for yourself, they stand out, they can be calm blues to practically neon green, but either way they stick out in the greatest way. Apex has a website that you need to check out, it has his murals, paintings, close ups and sculptures (yeah... he does sculptures too) and the address for that is: http://theapexer.com/murals/ He has also started his own youtube channel showcasing him doing his work, and its amazing to see how he builds up from the outline to the finished piece. Link to that is here: http://www.youtube.com/user/APEXERLABS Anyway here's some pictures of Apex's work, please check out this amazing work and let me know your thought's in the comments.
